A Day in the Life of Fluffy

Today we would like to share some of Fluffy’s adventures.  Fluffy would go on an adventure or two every day.  Some of her adventures were very typical, while some were out of the ordinary.  We often wished we had a go pro camera that we could attached to Fluffy to see where she had been on her adventures. In this post we will share some of Fluffy’s typical adventures which might consist of going out back and sitting just on the edge of the tall grass behind our condo searching for mice and other small critters.  She could sit and stare intently into the grass for hours.  Fluffy would patrol the grass line moving slowly and silently until she would spot potential prey.  I loved to stand out on our back deck and watch her.  I would call her name and she would turn her head quickly to see who caught her or maybe she was annoyed that I had made noise and potentially scared away whatever she was stalking.  Sometimes I would say her name and she would come bolting home as fast as her furry legs would take her.  I loved to watch her run and know that she was coming home to us for treats and pets.  Fluffy also loved to walk along the sidewalk in our condo complex looking for treats, pets, and in general to keep an eye on her territory.  Being a former stray, she was used to making friends with the neighbors during her rounds and in return they would give her pets, water, food, and occasionally shelter. She also loved to survey her kingdom from our back deck.  She would sit or lay for hours staring out through the railing with her tail wagging behind her.  She could see a great deal from the deck all the time knowing that she was safe.  Sometimes, if there was not much going on, she would find a spot in the sun to fall asleep.  You knew she was in a good and deep sleep when she would go what we called “jelly belly”, which is when she would lay on her back exposing her tummy with her legs spread in all directions.

When we were outside walking to the mailbox or trying to get some exercise and fresh air she would often pop up unexpectedly. We would be on our way and then hear a meow/cry coming from behind us and there she was asking why we were embarking on an adventure without her. One of us would then have to stay behind and walk back to the house to wait with her giving her pets and reassurance that we were not leaving her behind and we would never leave her behind. If we were able to start a walk without her spotting us initially she would usually pop out from behind a tree or bush or from under a car in order to join us on our adventure. Walking with Fluffy was always a slow process as she had to stop frequently to address some itch or clean herself. While it was slow going those were some of our favorite walks.
